I just love Terry Pratchett’s witty dialogue and immersive description.Īnother aspect of the book that I loved was the guide to the Nac Mac Feegle at the beginning. It’s a magical book with a genuine warmth to it. His humour shines through every word, especially when the Nac Mac Feegle claimed that ‘pished’ means tired instead of what it sounds like. Once again, Terry Pratchett’s writing is wonderful. However, Tiffany is able to make friends with these girls at the end of the book even if Annagramma is absolutely awful. Most of the girls who are witches-in-training are obsessed with looking the part (fancy hats and crystals) and doing ‘real’ magic rather than helping people. I just love the Feegle so much, especially Daft Wullie because he’s just so sweet but he is incredibly daft and he always says the wrong thing at the wrong time.Ī Hat Full of Sky introduces the reader to more witches and more witches-in-training as Tiffany attends the witch trials. They now have a new Kelda, as they’re a matriarchal bunch, who sends her husband, Rob Anybody, on a quest to save Tiffany from the hiver. The Nac Mac Feegle are once again the highlight of this series as they’re funny and they have such large personalities. The Nac Mac Feegle travel to Tiffany’s new home in order to rescue her from the hiver and

Tiffany has recently learnt how to step outside of her body and this leaves her mind vulnerable to the hiver’s invasion.

There’s also an ‘ondageist’ in the house called Oswald who keeps everything clean. Tiffany is being tracked by an odd, bodiless creature that the Wee Free Men call a hiver which invades the mind of people and takes over their bodies. She’s sent to live with an odd witch, Miss Level, who doesn’t seem to be able to do much magic. Tiffany, now 11-years-old, moves away from the chalk to learn how to become a witch.
